Dominique's Sweets

Macaron of the Month Club

Dominique's  Sweets started our Macaron of the Month Club in January 2010!

We've heard of wine clubs, beer of the month clubs, bacon of the month, and we thought it was time people should have a Macaron Club!

A different trio of flavors every month, delivered to your door.  Now, what could be better than that?!  Imagine the possibilities of receiving, or giving, a secret stash of macarons every month.

Our macarons are always fresh and made locally from wholesome, local ingredients.

Sure, you can get macarons (all of them previously frozen) at Costco, Trader Joe's and Starbuck's, and then you can get macarons of superior quality, made by someone you know and which support the local web of economics in our neighborhood.

French Macarons , at one time only available in Paris, have surged in popularity in the United States.

Laduree Macarons, Paris

There are blogs, books and even a New York City café dedicated to the French delicacies.  What’s behind this passionate following? It could it be the textures: crunchy, chewy and creamy all at once.  Or perhaps it’s the delicious flavor combinations.  And then there’s the petite size of the macaron--a few small bites of decadence. Whatever is behind this macaron mania, Northern California gastronomes are delighted that Dominique’s Sweets faithfully carries on the tradition of the true French macaron in Sonoma County, where each individual pasty is made by hand.

French macarons should not be confused with the “macaroon”—they are remarkably different in taste, texture and the amount of expertise it takes to craft them.  The sandwich-like French macaron is more of a meringue cookie, getting its light, airy texture from egg whites. The more widely-known macaroon is a dense cookie usually made from shredded coconut and almond paste.  It is no easy task to turn out an award-winning macaron.  And the pastries from Dominique’s Sweets are always fresh and made from local, wholesome Sonoma County ingredients.  This authentic approach is winning fans as well as awards.   “Your macarons are really good.  Better than Pamplemousse and Miette. I've had both…I do like yours better. I thought they were beautiful,” remarked Susan Flynn, a Cordon Bleu Paris graduate.

The double gold medal winning Caramel macarons are available right here on this site, and at the Santa Rosa Saturday Farmer’s Market
