Dominique's is baking up apple pies for the National Heirloom Expo in Santa Rosa.

We will be baking apple pies made with locally grown Gravenstein, Pink Pearl and Rhode Island Greening apples. Our delicious pies with a flaky crust will be available as whole pies, pies by the slice and individual sized pies.
This is the third year of the not-to-miss Expo and we're excited that Vandana Shiva will be back as the keynote speaker on the first day, September 10, of the event. Yay!!!
Come by for a pastie at the Renaissance Faire! We were at the Renaissance Faire in Sebastopol. We'll be all dressed up and selling pasties (lamb, beef and veggie pasties) and mini apple pies. A lovely time to be had by all at Ives Park in Sebastopol.
Learn more about Gravenstein Apples! Dominique's Sweets is lucky to be included in the Farmer's Markets celebrations of this delicious early season apple. The Russian River chapter of Slow Food was also there, pressing fresh cider, talking about the apples and handing out literature. You might be able to snag some groovy bumper stickers!

Macarons, macarons, macarons!
Ooh la la. Here are some photos of what is going on with Macarons in Paris, Reims, Epernay, and beyond.
Only a few years ago, the Parisian style Macaron was pretty much only in Paris. Now they are all over the place! I found someone selling them at a farmers market in Ile sur la Sorgue, Provence.
There are new ways of displaying them and many resources for the home cook to master Macarons at home.
My quest for the secret to Macaron Wedding Cakes was not as easily obtained. The subject kept changing and there were so many yummy things to eat I lost focus a few times.
I did discover that Dominique's Sweets clients are receiving very high quality macarons. Ours stood up very well against even Pierre Herme and Laduree'!
